Fevers, Suppositories, Mosquitoes and Madagascar or Help, my baby has a fever and the pharmacy has weird names for tylenol!

So during our recent family vacation to Fort Dauphin, our youngest daughter caught a fever.  Luckily Emily had dutifully stocked our suitcase with the pre-requisite medicine cabinet necessary for traveling with little ones.  We didn't plan on, however, our vacation lasting an extra day (thanks Air Bad Peut-Etre Maybe Mad) and ended up running out of the children's tylenol.

The Talinjoo offered to send a taxi driver (there's a good one named Raymond who has been driving for 25 years in Fort Dauphin--033 17 01911) but we needed to tell him EXACTLY what we needed.

Long story short after much research and consultation we discovered the following are equivalent to Tylenol:

Doliprane, Efferalgan, Acetaminophen (some pharmacies will carry a generic-ish med with the ingredient name) and Advil (some pharmacies will carry this brand name).  Efferalgan is probably the one most equivalent to what you would be looking for.  Just make sure to ask for pediatrique.

Finally, when on vacation in Madagascar, I would recommend picking up a Malaria test kit--they are only about 10,000 ariary.  We've had friends who were all dutifully taking their malaria meds and STILL got malaria...better to know.

Suppositories--because who doesn't love sticking medicine up an already sick child's buttonhole
